Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Referred to affectionately as "Gratoony the Loony", netminder Gilles Gratton saw action in the WHA with Ottawa and Toronto in the early-to-mid-1970s before single NHL seasons with the Blues and Rangers. Gratton would famously don his “tiger” mask during his stay in Manhattan, with the design recognized as one of the most captivating in history. Produced by Mikula Masks, we have a replica example modeled after Gratton’s famous specimen, and it’s been signed by the noteworthy keeper. Masterfully reproduced with back plate and strapping, the attractive polychrome mask has been signed over the left side in blue marker, with a second signature added to the interior. A hologram has also been affixed to the interior, with an LOA from Classic Auctions to accompany.
