A five-time Stanley Cup winner throughout his lengthy career which included winning four championships in just six seasons with the Edmonton Oilers, Esa Tikkanen would play a total of 877 games over the course of his National Hockey League career and also suit up for his native Finland on numerous occasions as well, winning a bronze medal at the 1998 Winter Olympic Games. Offered here, we present this photo-matched Oilers jersey donned by Tikkanen during a portion of the 1989-90 season. A heavy-weight mesh construction offering made by CCM and hailing from one of the first sets produced by the company for the team following the end of their contract with Nike, the jersey features a heavily worn label affixed to the inner collar that displays a mostly washed out size "52" designation that has been penned in black pen ink. Void of any CCM branding over the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a familiar Oilers team crest in layered tackle twill while the sleeves and verso have had Tikkanen's number "10" sewn to them in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals. Displaying "Tikkanen" spelt out in single layer white twill letters that have been sewn down over the affixed matching mesh nameplate across the top of the reverse, the jersey exhibits heavy game-wear in the form of numerous stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves, board burns over both sleeves, a pair of team repairs over the right sleeve and a couple of small unrepaired cuts to the mesh of the sleeves. Also sporting some pilling on the interior, customized lengthened sleeve cuffs and having had the fight strap cut out, a common trait on Tikkanen gamers, an IceViolence inventory tag is affixed to the interior where the fight strap once was. Regarding the photo-match, the jersey is matched to an included numerical image of Tikkanen that clearly shows the long black coloured stick mark at the upper right side of the Oilers crest.
