Finishing behind a strong Boston Bruins club during the regular season, Wayne Gretzky would again earn MVP honours while leading the Edmonton Oilers to the 1982-83 Stanley Cup playoffs. Edmonton would lose only a single contest while dispatching Winnipeg, Calgary and Chicago to advance to the finals. This important historical collection of 35mm colour and b&w Edmonton Oilers negatives from the first three rounds of the 1982-83 Stanley Cup playoffs totals approx 1,384, with roughly 291 that feature Wayne Gretzky. The breakdown includes approx 1,249 colour negatives and 135 b&w negatives, with 151 images from the first round vs Winnipeg including 46 of Gretzky, 551 from the second round vs Calgary including 100 of Gretzky, and 298 from the third round vs Chicago including 144 of Gretzky. The remaining approx 384 images include 101 of Gretzky, and feature Oilers playoff practices, the Oilers arriving home after the finals, images of Wayne with a “sore eye”, fans lining up for tickets and more.
The majority of the negatives remain in excellent condition with no issues, with the contents for each particular game remaining in its own original labeled envelope.
