The darling of Broadway and a definite fan favourite throughout his tenure in The Big Apple, netminder Ed Giacomin was selected to play in six NHL All-Star Games, with five consecutive appearances from 1967-71. Hailing from the era of the early-1970s, we offer this stick used by Giacomin. A Sher-Wood P.M.P. model with "Giacomin" and his number "1" stamped over the upper shaft, Sher-Wood labeling graces both sides of the paddle and upper shaft as well with one side of the upper portion showcasing "Pattern Made" and "P.M.P." stamps while the other sports "Made in Canada" and "Sherbrooke, Quebec" notations. Retaining its original tape job of black over the blade and paddle with white-over-black at the knob/handle, the paddle features two intact accent stickers at the top and bottom though the higher of the two is covered by Eddie's aforementioned tape job. Remaining in good structurally sound condition, the stick shows moderate levels of game-use through puck marks over both sides of the paddle and blade tape with the latter of the two sporting some wear and tear near the heel while the bottom of the blade itself remains in good condition with only the expected wear from use. Also showcasing some white colored marks on the upper shaft as well as some puck marks and stains/discoloration near the bottom, some blue marks/residue is found at the base of the shaft on the forehand side near where the shaft and paddle meet. Additionally, the stick features a vintage ballpoint pen signature from Giacomin on the backside of the shaft that remains legible though light from age. Having had a MeiGray sticker numbered "MGA30288" affixed to the backside of the stick under the knob/handle tape, a matching MeiGray Vintage LOA will accompany the piece.
