Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Beginning his Hall of Fame career in the Windy City in 1988-89, Ed Belfour would spend a total of nine seasons with the Chicago Black Hawks, with the Calder Memorial earned along with a pair of Vezina Trophies during his tenure in Illinois. Hailing from his personal collection, we offer a great group of items. First, there is a blocker and glove combo (not a matched set) that saw use in games and/or practices during the mid-1990s, with these probably not used together, with similar style models used by Ed after going to San Jose. Next, we have game-issued pads from the mid-1990s, a chest protector also from the mid-1990s, and a pair of skate shells, with each signed by the superstar. A signed LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany.
The blocker is a Cooper Reactor model with “Ed Belfour” embroidered-on, with light use exhibited which includes puck marks over the front. The glove is also a Cooper Reactor model, with heavy wear throughout, with considerable wear to the leather and puck marks to the pocket. The pads are being sold as game-issued, but we should note a few pucks marks are visible over each, with a section of padding cut out of the right pad (this does little to affect the display value). The chest/arm protector was produced by Cooper, with no discernible game-use visible. Finally, the skate shells were made by Icon, with Ed’s custom eagle embossed over each, with both showing nice use, with dark marks and red paint transfer throughout.
