Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
The fourth stop during his seventeen-year NHL career, Ed Belfour’s time in Toronto was important, with him setting a franchise record 37 wins in 2002-03. Ed also surpassed the great Terry Sawchuk for all-time wins while with the Maple Leafs. Included are his game-worn CCM goalie pads, skates, blocker and glove, along with his game-used CCM stick, and all are the types used by Ed in 2005-06. With each item showing just moderate game-use, the blocker, glove and pads may have been a back-up pair. This grouping from a prominent Hall of Famer will augment any Toronto, goalie or Hall of Fame collection. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany this lot.
The leather and canvas goal pads remain in very good condition, showing moderate use with “Belfour” embroidered onto the right pad. The CCM goal stick retains its original tape jobs on the blade and shaft, with additional gauze-style tape around the handle just above the paddle. Stamped “Ed Belfour”, Ed has signed across the tape on the blade in marker, adding his number, and the stick shows decent use including red goal post paint transfer on the blade. With “Belfour” embroidered on, the CCM blocker shows nice use, with a number of black puck marks on the upper section of the face and thumb protector. The CCM “Gatekeeper” trapper features “Ed Belfour” again embroidered on, with a number of black puck marks present on the pocket section. Lastly, the skates are Goalie Pro models with added eagles on the boots. These are the same model of skates Ed used while with Toronto. Also included is a small batting-style glove that was worn underneath the trapper.
