Thanks in no small measure to the Hall of Fame goaltending of Ed Belfour, the 1998-99 Dallas Stars stood atop the hockey world as Stanley Cup champions. After sharing the Jennings Trophy with teammate Roman Turek and winning 35 games during the regular season, Eddie the Eagle backed the Stars to playoff series wins over Edmonton, St. Louis and Colorado to take Dallas to the Stanley Cup final. Belfour recorded his third shutout of the 1999 playoffs in a 2-0 win against Buffalo in Game 5 at Reunion Arena to give the Stars a 3-2 series lead and Dallas claimed the Cup two nights later when Brett Hull scored in triple overtime. This is Ed’s spectacular 1998-99 Dallas Stars Stanley Cup Champions ring, a magnificent championship 14-karat gold bauble with real diamonds that weighs approximately 48 grams. A bed of shimmering white diamonds surrounds the raised gold star logo in the middle of the tableau, which is filled with five diamond-shaped green precious stones. “Stanley Cup Champions” is spelled out around the bezel in raised letters. The right shank displays “Dallas Stars” across the top with a “Relentless” banner above the old NHL shield. “Belfour” is spelled out across the top of the left shank with his number “20 at the bottom and an image of the Stanley Cup with “President’s Trophy” and “1999 Stanley Cup Champions” in between. “14K” is stamped inside the size 10 1/2 band of this gorgeous treasure that has been wonderfully preserved with a few light surface scratches and a couple of very tiny nicks on the top edge. Please take note that this item may be subject to a silent reserve. Comes with its original “Dallas Stars” presentation box, with “1999 Stanley Cup Champions” printed on the lining inside the lid, and Ed Belfour’s signed LOA.
The smooth mahogany-colored lidded presentation box measures 5” x 7” and stands 3 1/2" tall. It comes with its original white cardboard box with “Ed Belfour” label on the top of the cover.
