This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
Posting a record of 35-15-9 in 61 games played during his second season in “The Lone Star State” as a member of the Dallas Stars, Ed Belfour would outduel fellow HOFers Grant Fuhr, Patrick Roy and Dominik Hasek to help the Stars claim their first Stanley Cup in franchise history. Winning the William M. Jennings Trophy for the season with teammate Roman Turek, proudly presented here is this Dallas Stars jersey worn by Belfour during the 1999 Stanley Cup Finals against the Buffalo Sabres that has been video-matched to Dallas’ Cup-clinching win in Game 6 on June 19th, 1999.
Made by CCM, both “Goalie Style” and “Made in Canada” labels are affixed to the inner collar with the jersey measuring out to roughly a size “60” while NHL shield, CCM and Dallas logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Stars team crest that displays both textured and embroidered details, the all-important 1999 Stanley Cup Finals patch has been added over the right breast while matching State of Texas alternate logo patches reside over both shoulders. Sporting “Eddie the Eagle’s” number “20” sewn to the sleeves and verso in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, “Belfour” is spelt out in matching style across the affixed matching nameplate. Exhibiting good game-wear via pucks marks and what look like light board burns over both sleeves, additional wear is present via stick marks, puck marks, small fabric pulls and a small hole over the front while popped seams are present throughout the collar. With a large team repair present over the reverse neckline, the jersey has been customized to Belfour’s liking with the sides taken in at the hem and both armpits. Additionally, light pilling/fraying is observed on the interior at the elbow reinforcements.
Regarding the aforementioned video-matches, the jersey is matched to screen captures from Dallas’ 1999 Stanley Cup Champions movie to the black coloured mark on the left side of Ed’s collar as well as the white thread alongside it as well as to the placement and particulars of the nameplate on the reverse. Hailing from his personal collection, an LOA signed by Belfour will accompany the piece.
