Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
His second career stop on his way to the Hall of Fame, Ed Belfour’s time was short in San Jose, seeing action in only 13 games before signing with Dallas – leaving any and all item’s from The Eagle while representing the Sharks hard to come by. This lot contains Ed Belfour’s game-worn and photo-matched blocker, along with game-issued pads and game-used stick. The Bauer Reactor blocker has been photo-matched to a March 4th 1997 Getty image numbered 53121537, as well as a March 22nd 1997 Getty image numbered 251839, showing matches to a number of black marks present. An LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany this lot.
The “Custom Hand Crafted” leather and canvas goal pads remain in very good condition, with vibrant colours and all strapping present. The Bauer stick retains its original tape jobs on the blade and shaft, with additional brittle gauze-style tape around the handle just above the paddle. With “Belfour” in factory graphics and nice game-use showing, the stick also exhibits a large amount of red goal post paint transfer along the taped section of blade. Lastly, the photo-matched Bauer Reactor blocker shows plenty of use, with a number of puck marks on the face, with the palm section as well as the thumb protector showing wear.
