Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
This classic early-1960s white Detroit Red Wings game-worn jersey displays its No. 21 on the back and both sleeves in large numbers and a distinct font that makes for a not-often-seen style. This durene knit jersey has Olympic tagging in the neck with a size 44 flag tag below it. John Mckenzie (1960-61), Eddie Joyal (1961-62 and 1962-63) and Larry Jeffrey (1962-63) are among a number of players who wore No. 21 for the Winged Wheel during that era. We count a total of 10 classic bullet-style team repairs, including six on the lower right sleeve. There are a few small reddish-brown spot stains on the front and on the shoulders and back of the collar.
The other five team repairs include two on the front tail, one on the lower left sleeve, and one on the right side of the back. The red twill of the numbers on the back and the white twill of the numbers on the sleeves have detached slightly in a few areas. There is a long loose red thread at the right sleeve cuff.
