The Maple Leafs made a Killer acquisition midway through the 1991-92 season when they picked up HOF center Doug Gilmour as part of a 10-player blockbuster deal with Calgary. On January 2, 1992 the Leafs acquired Gilmour, Jamie Macoun, Ric Nattress, Kent Manderville and Rick Wamsley from the Flames in exchange for Gary Leeman, Craig Berube, Michel Petit, Alexander Godynyuk and Jeff Reese. And if the saying that the team that gets the best player wins the trade is true, then Toronto robbed Calgary blind. Gilmour this Hespeler 5500 gamer with Fibretech4 branding that he used after he was traded from the Flames to the Leafs, where he went on to score 49 points in 40 games to finish the 1991-92 season with a combined total of 87 points. The stick features the Flames coloring on the logo, which Gilmour had replaced with new blue branding after a few games. “Gilmour” is stamped on the shaft and the No. “93” Doug wore with the Leafs is handwritten in faded black marker below his nicely work white tape job on the knob. Gilmour signed low on the front of the shaft and his original tape job remains on the blade, with a loose strand on the back of the toe. A Killer find for Leafs and HOF game-used stick shrines.
