Exhibiting his promising skills after leading the Cornwall Royals to the 1981 Memorial Cup before scoring 177 points the following season – one of the highest OHA totals in history, Doug Gilmour was drafted by St Louis and dressed for seven different NHL clubs throughout his HOF career. A two-time All-Star, “Killer” also captured the Frank J Selke Trophy in 1993, and helped lead the Calgary Flames to a Stanley Cup championship, in 1989. Enshrined in 2011, Gilmour concluded his career with over 1,400 points including 450 goals, with his number #93 retired by the Toronto Maple Leafs.
From the Stanley Cup championship season of 1988-89, we have a signed and photo-matched Flames jersey worn by Gilmour during the Stanley Cup final. A Maska Air-Knit label is affixed to the collar along with a red CCM crest to the reverse hem, with the important sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 50. Styled with the classic Flames team crest fully administered in layered tackle twill, “39” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with the Stanley Cup finals patch to the left shoulder. The dual-clasp fight strap is intact, and it shows wear and washings, with some minor fraying along edges. Exhibiting good game-use with marks over the front and scrapes, pulls and burns to the sleeves, there is a slight tear to the “9” of “39” on the left sleeve, with a small spot of blood at the left armpit. There is also minor puckering to the team crest. Gilmour signed the team crest in black marker, with the signature flawless.
Regarding the aforementioned photo-matches, an included book shows an image of Gilmour scoring the overtime winner in Game 1 of the Smythe Division Finals, with the photo matched to the “M” of “GILMOUR” on the nameplate – with the “M” noticeably larger, while an included image has also been matched to the unusual black marking on the right sleeve, just below the "9", which can also be clearly seen in the Smythe Division Game 2 vs LA, with the loose threads on the sleeve numbers also visible. An included video still shot from the Conference Final vs Chicago shows the markings on the front lower of the jersey, including the distinct U-shaped stick mark. Lastly, the jersey is also video-matched to a home game of the Stanley Cup Finals (DVD included). The video clearly shows the horizontal, thin white board burn on the elbow area of the right sleeve as well as the loose threads on the sleeve numbers. The unusual size differentiations in the hand-cut nameplate letters are also visible with the “M” in GILMOUR noticeably larger than the rest of the letters. Please contact us if you would like to be forwarded the video-clips of the photo-matches. This is without doubt, one of the best Calgary Flames jerseys we have ever offered in our history.
