Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2023

Originally slated to be based in Miami, FL and called the Screaming Eagles, the ill fated franchise lacked key elements such as money and a suitable arena and were therefore relocated to the "City of Brotherly Love" for the WHA's inaugural season of 1972-73, where they would make a playoffs appearance against the Cleveland Crusaders. Offered here, and seldomly coming available in the hobby, is this Philadelphia Blazers jersey worn by Don Herriman during their lone season of 1972-73. Originally made by Coane and customized by Pearsons Sporting Goods, the jersey is void of any of the labeling that was once affixed inside the rear hem and measures out to roughly a size "44" for its effort. Decorated over the front with "Blazers" spelt out in individually applied dual layer orange-over-white tackle twill letters, the "L" is done in the style of a hockey stick while a small puck is seen underneath the "R. Accented over the shoulders and verso with Herriman's number "17" in dual-layer tackle twill numerals, the nameplate that once graced the upper reverse has been removed at some point with evidence of it still able to be seen. Exhibiting good game-wear and utilizing a dual garter style fight strap on the interior, stick marks are present over the front, reverse and both sleeves while board burns are found over both sleeves as well. Sporting numerous fabric runs and small holes over the sleeves, lower front, lower reverse and upper reverse (due to the removal of the nameplate), a large blue coloured board paint transfer is found over the right shoulder while a team repair is found on the lower reverse. With pilling/fraying and loose threads observed on the interior, don't miss out on this surviving relic from the lone season of Blazers play in Philadelphia and first season of play for the rival league!
