Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2024

Building since the infamous on-ice incident involving Kris Draper and Claude Lemieux in the 1996 Western Conference Finals, the brawl on March 26th, 1997 that has been dubbed "Bloody Wednesday", "Fight Night at the Joe" and "Brawl in Hockeytown" is the subject of this dual-signed framed display that hails from the personal collection of former Red Wing, Dino Ciccarelli. Measuring out to full dimensions of approximately 39 1/4" x 34 1/2" and with everything housed entirely in a simple black frame, the piece features a large 17" x 29" replica canvas ticket stub print from the fight filled affair at the left side of the piece while a 16" x 20" image of Darren McCarty unleashing on Claude Lemieux is seen at the right side in between laser cut out inserts with information pertaining to the game and fights. Having been signed by both Ciccarelli and McCarty along the bottom of the now iconic photograph, McCarty has added an annotation that reads "Sweet Revenge" beside his signature. With everything having been penned in blue marker ink, both autographs plus the annotation remain visible and strong despite some light-to-moderate fading from age. Having formerly been on display in "Ciccarelli's Premier Sports Club and Eatery" restaurant, the frame shows wear to the edges and corners, heaviest along the top, as well as the need for a good cleaning. Additionally, mounting holes have been drilled into the flame at three (3) of the four (4) corners and there are some tears to the backing paper on the back of the piece. An LOA signed by Ciccarelli will accompany the piece.
