Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/19/2023
One of the most storied franchises in the history of the National Hockey League and laying claim to a total of eleven (11) Stanley Cups since their inaugural year of 1926-27, the Detroit Red Wings have helped transform Motown into one of the NHL’s top destinations for both players and fans alike. Offered here, is this Detroit Red Wings framed display collection of two (2) that includes a beautiful 1997-98 team signed Vladimir Konstantinov “Believe” art print. Starting with the aforementioned print, the piece measures out to 18 ½” x 13 ½” and features the artwork of local Detroit artist, Paul Madden. Commissioned as a way to raise fund for both Konstantinov and Sergei Mnatsakanov following the tragic limousine accident of June 13, 1997, the piece, titled “Believe”, is a printer’s proof as identified by the “PP” designation at the lower left corner. Signed around the outside of the piece by sixteen (15) members of that season’s Cup winning Red Wings squad plus the artist. Those that have autographed the piece include; Bowman (coach), Yzerman, Fedorov, Lapointe, Lidstrom, Larionov, Brown, Shanahan, Draper, Gilchrist, Ward, McCarty, Kozlov, Eriksson and Mnatsakanov (trainer). All remaining legible, all the signatures have faded quite heavily from age and sun exposure. Housed in red metal frame that shows just light wear worth mentioning for accuracy, full dimensions measure out to 24 ½” x 18 ½”. Additionally, also included with the lot is a framed display of long time fan favourite Henrik Zetterberg that once again features the artwork of Paul Madden. Serial numbered “1/1” and signed by Madden in pencil along the bottom, the piece shows 3D style artwork of “Z’s” number “40” and a full body action image of him. Double matted under red and black and housed in a simple red coloured frame that shows just light wear from display, full dimensions measure out to 25 ¼” x 23 ¾” with Zetterberg having signed the “0” with a black ink signature that displays well with just very light fading being evident.
Please note that while all of our frames are thoroughly and safely packaged for shipping, due to the size and/or weight, and dependent upon the shipping company, we should mention that damage may occur in transit. Please note that as such, we are not responsible for damage to frames that occurs during shipping. A COA from artist Paul Madden will accompany each piece.
