Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/21/2020
First presented to Ed Westfall at the conclusion of the 1968-69 NHL season, we have a TV-38 Viewers Player Award, with the trophy awarded to “The player who performed above and beyond the capacity one would normally expect”. This example was originally presented to Bruins superstar Derek Sanderson in 1971-72, and it hails from his personal collection. At 20” in height, a handled trophy bowl with mounted player sits atop a marble-over-wood base, with a plaque affixed listing the particulars including “7th Player Award”, “1971-72” and “Derek Sanderson”. There is heavy wear and tarnishing to the mounted bowl throughout along with a few dents, with additional wear over the base and plaque including a few blemishes. The bowl and mounted player are both loose and can swivel, with the player’s hockey stick also bent. A signed LOA from Derek Sanderson will accompany this formidable trophy.
