Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022

Beginning and concluding his HOF career in Chicago with the Black Hawks, Denis Savard was drafted 3rd overall in 1980 and spent 17 seasons in the NHL, scoring over 1,300 points in just under 1,200 regular-season games. This Canadien model helmet was worn by the superstar during the circa mid-1980s with Chicago, and was later recycled, most likely for practices, as the “Canadien” logos have been covered over (the tape is gone from one logo but the residue remains). “Denis” is also handwritten but faded over the forehead, with a worn signature added along the top of the helmet with “HOF 2000”. Solid white with the original chin strap in place, the helmet shows heavy, prolonged use, with wear throughout including marks, scratches, surface abrasions, residue and toning, with the interior padding completely dried-out. There is also rusting to the chin strap clasp and additional screws. The helmet originates from a longtime NHL statistician, with his signed LOA to accompany.
