Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2020
Forever immortalized as the first netminder to regularly don facial protection, Jacques Plante remains one of the greatest goaltenders in history, with his early passing in 1986 leaving a void for autograph collectors. We have just that, with a postcard signed by the Montreal legend, accompanied by the original mailing envelope, also filled out in Plante’s hand. At 3 ½” x 5 ½”, the postcard pictures the HOF member during his time with the Maple leafs, with Jacques adding a nice signature over the upper left along with a personalization. The original envelope, with a “1971” postmark has been mounted to a sheet with the postcard, to total dimensions of 8” x 10”. The postcard exhibits light wear including a small crease, with heavy fading/toning taking place to each item as well as the signature and envelope text.
