Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/21/2017
Extremely desirable and almost impossible to locate, CFL jerseys from the 1950s rarely surface, with high grade examples from prominent players literally non-existent. Thankfully, we have just that here, with a stunning Winnipeg Blue Bombers jersey worn by guard/halfback Dean Bandiera during his time in the River City, from 1951-53. Wilson labeling is present along the crotch attachment, with “54” in Bombers gold affixed to the front and verso of this gorgeous dark navy survivor. Gold striping bands over each sleeve have also been utilized, adding to the garments wonderful aesthetics. Acquired recently from Bandiera, the 91 year old Timmins native played 10 seasons in Canada's best league and was a CFL West All-Star in both 1952 and 1953.
Surviving in wonderful condition, all of the lower buttons are intact, with the gold striping bands and affixed numbers remaining bright and vibrant. This example might be the best early-1950s Blue Bombers jersey in existence.
