Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 10/20/2020
Just missing a jersey, uniform socks and a stick, this complete ensemble of vintage hockey equipment ranging from the 1930s to the 1960s comes complete with everything needed to hit the ice, including pants, gloves, skates, shoulder pads, shin pads, elbow pads, a helmet and even a jock strap! First, the pants are circa 1930s with no maker visible and feature wooden slats along with an added interior padding section with sewn-in suspenders. The pants show great wear, with no tears or damage to the exterior. Next, the gloves also have no maker visible and hail from the 1930s/40s, and feature reinforced leather knuckles with great game use exhibited. Old time hockey at it’s best!
Also in this great vintage equipment lot, the helmet is a desirable harness example from the 1940s produced by Cooper Weeks, with the strapping intact and light wear to the leather. The shoulder pads originate from the 1950s and were produced by WinnWell, with moderate wear, while the shin pads are earlier examples from the 1930s produced by Ottawa maker Holdens, with light to moderate wear to the “Polar Bear” brand pads. Lastly, the 1950s/60s leather elbow pads feature plastic shells, with a name written on each, with the JC Higgens “Maple Leaf” brand skates from the 1950s in beautiful condition, showing just very light wear.
