Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Before he played in the NHL, before he played in the WHA, even before he played for Sault Ste. Marie, the one and only Wayne Gretzky made his OHL debut while wearing jersey no. 26 with the Peterborough Petes during the 1976-77 season, when he had three assists in three games. This mid- to late-1970s Petes game-worn No. 26 jersey has Wilson size 46 tagging that dates from that era. There is some red paint transfer on the right shoulder yoke and both sleeves, sweat stains surrounding the collar and marks on the front tail. Petes logo on the front and numbers on the back and sleeves are sewn-on tackle twill. Comes with a framed photo of Gretzky in action wearing a No. 26 Petes jersey.
