Presenting baseball’s all-time shutout leader as well as the holder of the highest career batting average, Ty Cobb and Walter Johnson were also two of the first five original HOF inductees, and we offer a pair of items featuring The Georgia Peach and The Big Train. First, we have the always popular 1920s Walter Johnson board game, with intact box and several remaining game pieces including the board, directions, six playing pieces and a single score sheet. Cobb is represented by the cast-iron bank thought to depict his likeness, hailing from the 1910s and produced by AC Williams. At 5 ½” in height, the two-piece bank is joined by a single screw over the reverse, just beneath the coin slot. Featuring a gold wash throughout and painted red cap, the bank shows heavy surface wear with no breaks or cracks.
The Johnson board game box is approx 10” x 14” x 2”, and is currently shrink wrapped for display (the interior components have been removed), with corner and edge wear to the cover along with a few small surface breaks, with much of the bottom section “pushed-in”, with clear tape added over tears/breaks. The game board is approx 10” x 14”, with light wear present to each interior component including the directions, score sheet and playing pieces.
