Featuring honourary captains Ken Dryden (Team World) and Yvan Cournoyer (Team North America), the 1998 NHL All-Star Game was the first to have an international format, with North America slipping past the World, 8-7. This signed and video-matched Chicago Black Hawks captain’s jersey was worn by Chris Chelios during the skills competition, and it hails from the personal collection of teammate and fellow HOFer Ed Belfour. A 1996-97 Set 3 specimen, Nike size “52” and Center Ice labels sit affixed to the collar, with embroidered Nike and NHL crests to the reverse hem. Styled with an absolutely gorgeous chain-stitched multi-coloured Indian head team crest, the solid red V-neck has been accented with “7” in layered tackle twill sewn to the sleeves and verso, with tomahawk crests to each shoulder and an American flag patch over the right breast. Video-matched to the long loose thread on the collar which clearly shows-up on the Skills competition video, the jersey was likely worn by Chelios during the 1996-97 playoffs and/or in the following 1997-98 pre-season as well. The dual-clasp fight strap is intact, and it shows evidence of multiple washings. "3" is also handwritten on the back of the NHL shield logo on the hem. Sporting a large stick mark over the lower front, there are a few additional marks and burns to the sleeves, with a clump of approx four team repairs at the left elbow. Chelios has signed the reverse “7” in black marker, with the signature presenting well. A signed LOA from Ed Belfour will accompany.
