All pivotal members of the 1960-61 Chicago Black Hawks squad that knocked off both the Montreal Canadiens and Detroit Red Wings to claim the franchise's first Stanley Cup championship since 1938, the likes of Pierre Pilote, Kenny Wharram and Bill Hay would all finish in the top six (6) of team scoring during the playoffs, with Pilote registering fifteen (15) points in twelve (12) games to claim top spot. Offered here, we present this collection of 1960s Black Hawks memorabilia that includes sticks used by Pilote, Wharram and Hay during their time in the Windy City and team issued photos totaling twelve (12) used for Topps hockey cards made between 1958 and 1961. Starting with the stick, all wooden straight blade offerings made by Northland that are labeled as being "Pro" model twigs, each has had their respective owner's name stamped over the upper shaft while additional stamps for Gunzo's and/or Northland Ski Mfg Co. are present as well. All retaining their original tape jobs over both the handles and knobs as well as the blades, the accent stipes found near the bottoms of all three (3) shafts remain largely intact and accounted for. All showing solid game-use, wear is observed via numerous dark marks and in some cases red post paint transfer marks over each. Additionally, some wear is found on the bottom of the blade/heel of the Pilote and Wharram sticks while cracks exist in the toes as well. Moving on to the photos, all black and white offerings measuring out to 8" x 10", the images are team offerings used to produce Topps hockey cards between 1958 and 1961. Including examples picturing the likes of Mikita, Hull, Balfour, Maloney, Hay, Evans, Sloan, Arbour, Nesterenko, Murphy, Pilote and Wharram, most have had the names of the players and/or other notations penned or stamped over the reverse along with their positions in some cases while the photo of Bill Hay has a Sporting News Collection sticker affixed to the reverse. All remaining in overall pleasing condition, the group shows wear via small flaws such as edge/corner wear including small creases as well as small examples of toning and staining while the Ron Murphy example shows light amounts of paper loss on the reverse.
