Nearly matching the perfection achieved the previous season, the Miami Dolphins would lose just two regular-season games in 1973, and after beating the Bengals and Raiders, would meet and defeat the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl VIII. The club would post an unbelievable 32-2 record over the two years, with a winning percentage of .941, and allow just 10.7 points-per-game during the regular season. Running back Charles Leigh would have one of his most productive seasons in 1973, returning nine kickoffs for 251 yards and nine punt returns for 64 yards. Leigh also rushed twenty-two times for 134 yards with one touchdown. This 1973 Miami Dolphins Super Bowl Champions 10K gold and diamond ring was presented to the Virginia native. Size 8 ¼ with an approx weight of 36 grams, a pair of diamonds – one for each back-to-back championship - grace the tableau over a pale blue stone (this setting is somewhat crooked), encompassed by “Miami Dolphins” above and “World Champions” below in slanted, raised letters, with “72” and “73” sandwiched between. The right shank sports a raised Vince Lombardi Trophy with “Super Bowl VII VIII” above and “Back-to-Back” below, while the left shank has an enamel Dolphins logo with “Leigh” above and “23” below. The inner band is stamped "Josten's 10K", with "Charlie Leigh Sr" engraved. Showing moderate wear from use with numerous scratches and small dings visible, the black background paint to the shanks is almost all worn/gone. A detailed gemological report will accompany.
