An area of collecting finally getting its due, vintage signed hockey cards are difficult to locate, especially examples featuring prominent Hall of Famers. We have exactly that, with a large collection of 19 signed Montreal Canadiens cards from the 1969-70 O-Pee-Chee set, with each card encapsulated and each signature graded by PSA/DNA. Four of the players are deceased including a pair of HOFers, with a total of nine HOF members represented. Included, we have Beliveau #10 GEM MT 10, Beliveau #220 MINT 9, Worsley #1 MINT 9, Richard #163 MINT 9, Vachon #165 GEM MT 10, Laperriere #3 NM 7, Lemaire #8 EX-MT 6, Duff #11 EX-MT 6, Savard #4 MINT 9, Savard #210 GEM MT 10, Cournoyer #6 NM 7 and others. Also included, we have a 1993 Centennial silver dollar and commemorative card – both signed by Beliveau, along with a vintage Eagle Toys metal “Shooting Practice” display.
The remaining cards include Cournoyer #221 NM-MT 8, Tremblay #168 GEM MT 10 (deceased), Ferguson #7 NM-MT 8 (deceased), Rousseau #9 NM-MT 8, Harper #164 NM7, Harris #2 NM-MT 8, Harris #219 GEM MT 10 and Backstrom #166 GEM MT 10. A few of the cards including the #10 Beliveau have small stickers from PSA affixed directly to the back of the card. Most of the cards themselves remain in mid-grade, with a few higher, with the #219 Harris, #7 Ferguson, #8 Lemaire, #165 Vachon and #4 Savard cards all in lower grade. The silver dollar is mounted in a clear plastic puck, with Beliveau signing in blue marker, adding the date of April 4th 1993, while the 5” x 7” (folded) commemorative card has been signed in black ink, with no issues. Lastly, the vintage Eagle Toys metal “Shooting Practice” sign is approx 12” x 12” with a cardboard backing, with wear to the corners, along with soiling along the complete seam over the reverse.
