Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Famously playing the father of Dean Youngblood (Rob Lowe) in the 1986 film Youngblood, Eric Nesterenko spent seasons early in his career with Toronto, but is best known for his time in The Windy City with the Chicago Black Hawks. We have a stick used by Nesterenko in 1959-60, and it’s been team-signed by the Black Hawks on the eve of their 1961 Stanley Cup championship. A Northland Pro model, “Nesterenko” is stamped over the shaft, along with his preferred lie number 5. 15 have signed one side of the shaft in black marker, including HOF members Hull, Mikita, Lindsay, Pilote, Arbour, and Hall, as well as Nesterenko, along with Hay, Sloan, Murphy, Balfour, Litzenberger, Wharram, Skov and Jack Evans.
Showing light use with intact striping accents and toning throughout, the tape over the blade and knob remains intact, with a small series of cracks that begin at the tip and run under the blade tape. Despite the small hairline cracks, the stick remains completely solid.
