Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/26/2019
His second NHL stop during his 20-season HOF career, Doug Gilmour would spend four seasons in Alberta with the Flames, scoring 85 points in 72 games during his inaugural season in Calgary, in 1988-89. That season would also witness the Flames defeat Montreal in the Stanley Cup final, for the franchise’s first and only championship to date. Originating from that successful season, we have a pair of plaques that were presented to the 2011 HOF inductee. Identical in size at approx. 11” x 15”, each plaque was awarded by Chrysler and the NHL, with engraved metal plates listing the particulars, with facsimile signatures from Chrysler Chairman Lee Iacocca and NHL President John Ziegler. Both awarded for “Performer of the Week”, one for the week ending Nov 6th 1988, the other, Feb 12th 1989. A signed LOA from Doug Gilmour will accompany.
Each plaque exhibits just light wear, with a few scratches to the plate and wooden base on the Nov example.
