A Stanley Cup champion with the New York Rangers in 1994, Alexei Kovalev enjoyed an especially lengthy NHL career, with multiple seasons in Manhattan as well as Pittsburgh, Ottawa and Montreal. We have a stick and gloves combo from the three-time All-Star, both used during his time with the Canadiens in the mid-2000s, circa 2005-06. The stick is a Warrior model with inserted composite blade and “A Kovalev 27” factory graphics, with a black gripper over the handle/knob and the tape most likely removed from the blade. Factory codes are also visible over the undersides of both the blade and shaft. The gloves are Warrior PlayersClub models in Habs colours with “Kovalev” embroidered over the wrist guard on the right glove, “Commander” on the left. “Game I” has also been handwritten over the extended padding above the palm on each glove.
The stick exhibits a few marks and wear to the lower shaft, with the inserted blade showing light to moderate wear, with glue residue where the blade is inserted. The gloves also show nice use, with light staining and marks over each, with light wear to each palm.
