Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Celebrating 100 years of the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens – the league’s oldest franchise – along with the Ottawa Senators, played an outdoor game at TD Place Stadium on December 16th 2017. Labeled the NHL 100 Classic, the contest was a rematch of one of the first two NHL games held on December 19, 1917, played between the Canadiens and the original Ottawa Senators. Hailing from that historic rematch, we have the Montreal Canadiens jersey worn by superstar netminder Carey Price during the second period, and it’s been photo-matched. A labeled Adidas collar band shows “58G” sizing, with a chrome-coloured French-language NHL shield logo and partially-embroidered Adidas crest over the front and reverse necklines respectively. Featuring the famous Habs CH logo with gorgeous silver thread detailing, the special single-game specimen has been finished with sleeve and verso numbers in Canadiens’ blue with silver trim, with the “La Classique 100 de la LNH” crest over the right shoulder. An LOA from the Canadiens organization will accompany.
We should also note that each victorious Stanley Cup season has been impressed into each sleeve’s silver striping band, with “Nos Bras Meurtris vous Tendent le Flambeau” imprinted along the inner collar. The jersey sports a pair of large puck marks, one over the front left shoulder, the other, beneath the team crest, with the jersey in otherwise perfect condition. “2” has been handwritten over the fight strap, with a “Game Worn” patch from Fanatics placed over the inside hem. There is also a hologram numbered “GU18419” affixed to the reverse “1”, and it matches the aforementioned LOA from the Canadiens. Getty Image #903318226 from Dec 16th 2017 has been matched to the big black mark on the left shoulder. A printed 8” x 10” photo of the photo-match along with a 5” x 7” action photo showing the same match will both be included.
