Sir Robert Laird Borden served as the eighth Prime Minister of Canada, and the last one to be knighted. The Nova Scotia native is remembered for his leadership of Canada during the First World War, serving as prime minister from 1911 until 1920. Borden, who died in 1937, autographed and dated “2 Dec., 1921” this small piece of “British Empire Delegation, Franklin Square Hotel, Washington” letterhead in bold black fountain pen ink. This nice big example of Borden’s signature sits in the middle of the vintage 7 3/8” x 4 3/4" paper stationery with an embossed coat of arms at the top and three horizontal fold creases. The verso has blotted black ink that does not show on the front.
