Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017

Canada’s tenth and longest-serving Prime Minister, Mackenzie King was the country’s top politician for most of the 1920s through 1940s minus the Great Depression era, with the Liberal best remembered for his leadership during the Second World War. We have a photograph of the Order of Merit recipient by noted lensman Yousuf Karsh, and it’s been signed by both King and the famous photographer. At just over 10” x 13”, the silver gelatin print features a formidable image of the Canadian leader, mounted to a matte and framed to roughly 18” x 23”. King has signed the matte beneath his image in fountain pen adding “Yours sincerely” along with “Ottawa 1944”, with Karsh signing along the bottom left section of the print itself. With some tape and residue affixed to the glass and moderate wear to the frame itself, the print and King signature both remain in outstanding condition.
