This superb personal Stanley Cup trophy was presented to Hall-of-Famer Bryan Trottier, who claimed his seventh Cup as an assistant coach with the Colorado Avalanche in 2001. Trottier, who was inducted as a player in 1997, was the New York Islanders' top center during their run of four straight Cups in the early-1980s. He added two more Cups in 1991 and 1992 with Pittsburgh, providing veteran leadership on a Penguins lineup that boasted fellow HOFers Mario Lemieux and Ron Francis down the middle. Moving behind the bench with the Avalanche, Trottier helped guide Colorado to its second Stanley Cup in six years in the spring of 2001. Raymond Bourque finally reached hockey's summit to cap his remarkable career and Patrick Roy won a record third Conn Smythe Trophy as he celebrated his fourth Cup win overall. The Avalanche swept Vancouver in the first round but they needed all seven games to get by Los Angeles in round two. A pair of overtime wins sealed a five-game victory over St. Louis in the conference finals before Colorado was pushed to the limit once again in the final by New Jersey. Roy posted his second shutout of the final in a 4-0 win in Game 6 and Joe Sakic delivered a goal and an assist two nights later as the Avalanche celebrated on home ice. Rising thirteen inches from the base, this grail in miniature features the names of the Avalanche's 2000-01 championship squad etched on the silver-plate barrel. Trottier is listed on the right side of the second row along with head coach Bob Hartley and fellow assistant Jacques Cloutier. Bourque, Roy, Sakic, Forsberg, Blake, Foote, Drury, Hejduk, Tanguay, and the rest of the Avs players are listed in three columns along the bottom of the barrel, etched in silver plate. Produced by Boffey, this personal Stanley Cup has a black wood base with brown felt covering the bottom. Clean up its light tarnish and this treasure will be restored to near-mint condition. Bryan Trottier's signed letter of authenticity accompanies this magnificent personal Stanley Cup trophy.
