Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/20/2022
The only Fall Classic victory for Willard Mullin's 'Bums', The Brooklyn Dodgers finished 13.5 games ahead in the NL pennant race in 1955, and were finally able to defeat The Mick and the perennial-champion Bronx Bombers in the World Series. Featuring a rookie Sandy Koufax, we have a ball team-signed by the world champion 1955 Brooklyn Dodgers. A Spalding Official NL Giles sphere, 23 have signed - mostly in blue ballpoint, including Koufax, Hodges, Robinson (twice), Podres, Labine, Newcombe, Howell, Loes, Roebuck, Hamric, Meyer, Kellert (only with Dodgers in 1955), Spooner, Black, Hughes, Gilliam, Furillo and Walt Alston (manager), along with secretarial signatures of Reese, Snider and Sandy Amoros. The Koufax is a bit light, with both Robinson signatures displaying fairly well. The ball itself exhibits just an even coat of light toning. A PSA/DNA LOA will accompany.
