Debuting with the famed bleu, blanc et rouge during the 1985-86 regular season after winning a Calder Cup and the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy the year before with Montreal's AHL affiliate in Sherbrooke, Brian Skrudland would make his mark on the playoffs nine (9) seconds into game two of the 1986 Stanley Cup Finals against the Calgary Flames by recording the fastest overtime goal in NHL playoff history, a mark that still stands to this day, as the Canadiens, who lost game one, would go on to win four straight to capture the 23rd Stanley Cup in franchise history and the 1st of Skrudland's long career. Offered here, we present this stick used by Skrudland to score that record setting goal. A Sher-Wood PMP 7000 model with "Skrudland 39" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains most of its original black cloth tape job over the knob and blade though some of the knob tape is loose and some of the blade tape is removed (residue of its former placement is observed). Featuring a mostly intact foil accent sticker near the bottom of the shaft and stamps on the underside of stick near the heel reading "49" and "Montreal" along with some others that can't be made out, the stick exhibits heavy game-use via numerous marks and abrasions throughout the shaft, heel and blade while the remaining blade tape shows some small tears on both sides as well and puck marks. Of note, a crack is seen on the underside of the blade worth pointing out for accuracy. Hailing from his personal collection, the stick will be accompanied by an LOA signed by Skrudland.
