Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Fall 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/21/2022
A consummate leader on and off the ice, Brendan Shanahan is a three-time Stanley Cup winner as well as the only player in NHL history to accumulate over 600 goals and 2000 penalty minutes. This lot contains a Detroit Red Wings jersey worn by the Hall of Famer including a COA and MeiGray COR, along with a game-used and signed stick. The collar retains its size tagging including heat-pressed “1”, with embroidered NHL and CCM patches on the bottom hem and back neckline respectively. Fully accented in tackle twill including the letters, numbers and alternate’s “A”, the back name letters have been sewn directly onto the sweater. With a gorgeous winged-wheel team crest, the team stamp stating “1st Set” sits on the inside hem. Great game-use is displayed on the jersey, with a number of black marks on the lower front below the striping band, as well as on the back of the left sleeve. There are also a few board burns present on both sleeves. As mentioned, this sweater has been photo-matched. Getty image #2884433 from December 10th 2003 has been matched to a number of black marks on the front of the jersey. This particular photo is included and has been matted and framed, perfect for display with the jersey. Getty image #52388554 has also been matched to a number of black marks below the team crest. A hologram from Hockeytown has been affixed to the collar, and a matching COA will accompany. The included game-used stick is a Warrior Dolomite model, with “B. Shanahan” factory graphics. The original tape remains on the blade and shaft/knob, with nice use showing including wear to the blade and marks along the shaft. Brendan has signed across the blade in silver sharpie, and the signature stands out well.
