Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction March 2010
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/16/2010
Swedish great Borje Salming wore this thin blue knit gamer during the 1976 Canada Cup. The Hall-of-Famer scored four goals and was named to the tournament All-Star team on defense along with Bobby Orr. A fan favorite in Toronto, Salming received a huge ovation from the Maple Leaf Gardens crowd when he was introduced prior to Sweden's 5-2 win over the United States. Yellow leatherette "Tre Kronor" crowns are sewn onto the front, the same material used for his surname letters sewn on the back (no nameplate) and the #5 on the back and both sleeves. Garter-style fight strap is intact and "Liga" tag sewn inside the tie-down collar is frayed on both ends. To note on the front are a couple of stains and a tiny unrepaired hole. Comes with Borje Salming's signed LOA.
