Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
Originally sold through the Hockey Diversified NHL Goal Puck Program that offered game-used examples from 1972-73 and 1973-74, a label was affixed to each listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. We have a trio of pucks that were all used to score goals for the Vancouver Canucks during the 1973-74 NHL season, with examples used by Bobby Schmautz, John Gould and Bryan McSheffrey. All homes contests, the Schmautz puck originates from a Jan 15 1974, 4-2 victory over the Maple Leafs, the Gould from a 5-4 win over Detroit on Feb 9 1974, and the McSheffrey was used in a Nov 17 1973 tie against Philly. The Canucks would finish the 1973-74 campaign in 7th place in the East Division, with Schmautz tying Dennis Ververgaert for team lead in goals, with 26.
All three rubberized Canucks logos display well with some cracking to the example on the Schmautz puck, with the Goal Puck Program labels all showing dark marks, most prominently on the Schmautz puck. There are also a few small slices and edge chips to the Gould and Schmautz pucks.
