Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/15/2016
From “Bobby Orr Day” on August 23rd 1979, we have the actual jersey worn by the Hall of Fame defenceman during the festivities that took place in Oshawa to benefit the Bobby Orr Sports Therapy Clinic. Athletic Knit size tagging appears in the collar of the vintage durene sweater, with an alternate captain’s “A” over the left breast and “Orr” across the back in tackle twill. Originally gifted the day after to Oshawa alderman John W. Wiley, the jersey remained in his collection and comes from his estate. Included are a “Bobby Orr Day” ticket and program, along with personal papers of Wiley’s relating to the event.
The jersey remains in very good condition, with some light toning/staining present, including what appears to be sweat stains around each armpit. There are also a few spots along the seams near each elbow, where the threading has come loose.
