Leading the NHL in goal-scoring seven times during the 1960s, Bobby Hull became the first player in history to score more than 50 goals in a season - accomplishing the feat during the 1965-66 season, and we offer the original puck used by The Golden Jet to score his record-setting 53rd! A standout season, Hull would also set the record for most points in a season with 97 in 1965-66. He would conclude the season with 54 goals. Taking place on March 16, 1966 vs Detroit, the goal was plotted at 10:43 of the second, with Pierre Pilote and Pat Stapleton assisting. Sporting a gold covering, the puck has been mounted to a small marble base with felt underside, with a pair of plaques attached. The top plaque lists the particulars "Bobby Hull, NHL Record, 53rd Goal, Detroit at Chicago, March 16, 1966, To Mom and Dad with Love", while the base plaque lists the assisting players and time. The back of the puck has a small engraved "53". There is some age and surface wear, especially to the top plaque, with the puck displaying beautifully overall. Our consignor says he originally obtained it directly from Bobby Hull.
