Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2023

Laying claim to an NHL career that saw him play in 111 games split between the Chicago Black Hawks and Los Angeles Kings, Bob Janecyk was involved in the trade that would see the Kings use a 4th round draft pick in 1984 to select Baseball Hall of Famer, Tom Glavine, 69th overall. Up for grabs here, is this jersey worn by Janecyk during the 1986-87 season. Made by CCM but void of any tagging affixed to the inner collar, the jersey measures out to a size “52” while the CCM logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with Los Angeles’ original crown crest that features embroidered details throughout, the franchise’s 20th season anniversary patch has been added over the left shoulder. Having had Janecyk’s number “1” sewn to the sleeves and verso in dual layer tackle twill numerals, “Janecyk” is spelt out in single layer purple letters across the affixed matching nameplate while the fight strap on the interior is still present and accounted for. Guarding the goal for just seven (7) games that season, the jersey shows just light game wear via a puck mark at the left shoulder and a stick mark near the left cuff as well as a few fabric snags throughout and some pilling/fraying on the interior that is heaviest around the fight strap. Additionally, some of the stitching around the hem line on the front has let go.
