Appearing in four NHL All-Star Games throughout his Hall of Fame career, Bob Gainey would also earn the prestigious Frank J Selke Trophy in three of those four All-Star seasons. From his third appearance at the NHL’s best-on-best showcase, we have a Wales Conference jersey worn by the six-time Stanley Cup champion at the 1980 NHL All-Star Game. A Gerry Cosby label with “54” sizing is affixed to the collar, along with laundering instructions. Featuring an embroidered NHL shield crest, “23” appears over the sleeves and verso in orange-over-black tackle twill, with “Gainey” affixed to the upper reverse in individual black letters with orange accent threading. The sweater also sports additional NHL shields over each breast, with a white star adhered between the sleeve’s black striping bands, along with another half dozen matching examples evenly spaced across the front and reverse lower band. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany.
Worn for just a single contest, the jersey exhibits light game use, with just a few marks and faint burns visible, with a bit of small staining/discolouration near the team crest. An 8” x 10” photo showing Gainey pictured along with Guy Lafleur and Larry Robinson in their 1980 All-Star uniforms is included, with handwritten text over the reverse including “All-Star Game Detroit Feb 1980” and “Collection Bob Gainey”.
