With the Montreal Canadiens completely dominating the 1977-78 NHL season, losing a mere 10 regular-season contests and just a trio of playoff games to claim their third-consecutive Stanley Cup championship, numerous Habs would also claim individual hardware. The Art Ross would be claimed by Lafleur and the Conn Smythe by Robinson among others, with Hall of Fame star and former Habs’ captain Bob Gainey earning his first of four consecutive Frank J Selke awards. This 14K gold and diamond ring was presented to Gainey for his status with the Montreal Canadiens as a 1978 Stanley Cup champion. Size 11 with an approx weight of 41 grams, this spectacular ring displays a dazzling tableau with a huge diamond in a diamond-shaped gold setting encircled by 24 smaller diamonds floating in a sea of white gold. "N.H.L. Champions 1978" surrounds it all on the bezel. "Coupe Stanley Cup" banner on the left shank with “Club de Hockey Canadien” at the bottom and each of the team's 21 Cup championship years surrounds a likeness of Lord Stanley's chalice, while "Gainey" is spelled out above the the CH logo on the right shank with "Champions Est-East 59-10-11" below it reflecting Montreal's incredible regular season mark. "Jostens 14K" is stamped to the inside band which also feature’s an engraved facsimile signature. Originating from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this gorgeous Stanley Cup championship ring.
Worn proudly by one of the modern game’s greatest stars, the ring shows light wear overall, with scratches across the band and over the shanks, with a few small dings also visible along edges.
