Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020

Posting an amazing 60–8–12 record during the regular season and outscoring their competition by 216 goals, the 1976-77 Montreal Canadiens are widely regarded as the greatest NHL team in history. The Habs would crush the Bruins four-straight in the Stanley Cup finals to claim their second of four-consecutive championships, with Hall of Fame member Bob Gainey making his first of four appearances at the NHL All-Star Game. This Stanley Cup trophy was presented to Gainey for the Canadiens' status as 1977 Stanley Cup champions. Standing a majestic 13” and mounted to a wooden base with green felt underside, the names of the men who made it happen are engraved in three rows beneath the Canadiens’ executives, with “Club de Hockey Canadien” and “1976-77” engraved above. Hailing from his personal collection, a signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this majestic Stanley Cup championship trophy.
Exhibiting light surface wear throughout, there are a few minor scratches visible, with no unsightly dents or dings. Gainey has signed the underside of the base in black marker (there is a bit of wear to the green felt), with no issues for the signature.
