This 1981-82 New York Islanders miniature Stanley Cup trophy was presented to HOF goalie Billy Smith. The Islanders became the first American team to win the Cup in three consecutive seasons with a four-game sweep of Vancouver in the final. Smith, who won the Vezina Trophy in 1981-82 and was named an NHL First Team All-Star, went 15-3 in the playoffs with a shutout and a 2.54 GAA as the Islanders dispatched Pittsburgh, the rival Rangers and Quebec before taking the broom to the Canucks. Standing 13 1/8” tall, this magnificent silver-plated Stanley Cup reads “New York Islanders 1981-82” on the engraved barrel, with the names of HOFers Torrey, Devellano and Arbour among the executives and staff below that. Captain Denis Potvin, Conn Smythe winner Mike Bossy and Smith and fellow HOFers Gillies and Trottier among the players names listed in three columns at the bottom. There is some very light tarnish to this gorgeous trophy that has a twist to the base at the bowl, which is angled downwards on one side as a result. Comes with Billy Smith’s signed LOA.
