An undrafted free agent, Bill Prentice signed with the Houston Aeros of the WHA in 1973 and would see great success in the Lone Star state, winning AVCO Cup championships in 1974 and 1975. Hailing from the 1973-74 season, we offer this Houston Aeros jersey worn by Prentice. Sporting Rawlings labeling with a “48” size swatch, there is no other tagging visible. Featuring “Aeros” placed diagonally across the chest in stylized individual white twill letters, Prentice’s number “22” appears over the sleeves and verso in matching material, with a single affixed star over each shoulder. “Prentice” is spelt out in single layer white twill serif font letters on the affixed nameplate. The jersey is distinguishable as a 1973-74 example based on the placement of the shoulder star being much closer to the shoulder yoke has it was higher on 1974-75 jerseys as well as the font that was used on the nameplate as in 1974-75 a sans-serif font was used.
Hailing from a AVCO Cup championship season, the jersey exhibits game-use through a few burn type flaws on the front, a board burn on the upper right sleeve, pilling on the interior, an unrepaired hole on the reverse and a stick mark through the second back number “2”. The fight strap on the interior has been cut out, stains, including dried blood, are found throughout the jersey and tears are seen in the upper part of the "E" and "S" in the team name letters on the front, the upper part of the left "2" on the back and numbers of the left sleeve.
