The Broadstreet Bullies were on top of the hockey world in the spring of 1974 as the Philadelphia Flyers became the first modern NHL expansion team to win the Stanley Cup. Flyers forward Bill Clement’s 1973-74 Flyers game-worn white home jersey is photo-matched to the Cup clincher on May 19. Clement wore it during the regular season and on into the 1974 Stanley Cup playoffs, when he appeared in four games, including the 1-0 win over Bobby Orr’s Boston Bruins in Game 6 at the Spectrum. Two photos of Clement posing with the Stanley Cup offer the match, with both showing the particular pattern of the sewing thread on the "1" of the number 10 on the left sleeve, and the same for the bottom of the "0" on the same sleeve. Solid game wear shows in pilling, including heavy pilling on the inner sleeves and the front tail. Awesome treasure from the Flyers’ first Stanley Cup win comes with Bill Clement’s signed LOA.
In addition to the photo matches from the two pictures, the pattern of the sewing thread on the number "1" shows on screen grabs from Game 6 post-game handshakes where the black marks below the team crest are also visible.
The size 50 and laundry instruction flag tags are in the back of the neck and the garter-style fight strap remains intact. Some part of the back numbers are partially detached and there is a vintage repair to the back number "1" and small portion of the nameplate visible from the inside of the jersey.
More game wear includes reddish-brown spot stains on the upper front above the Flyers crest, black marks on the front and both sleeves, board burns and unrepaired burn holes, red paint transfer on the front of the right shoulder, and a board burn with red paint transfer and a tiny team repair to the burn hole on the shoulder seam above the "0" on the right sleeve.
