Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2021
Joining once again, in collaboration with the Montreal Canadiens, Classic Auctions is pleased to offer a large collection of artifacts and memorabilia from the storied club’s comprehensive archives. A number of historic specimens direct from the famous team including unique displays that were once marvelously displayed in the hallowed Montreal Forum and later at the Bell Centre are available, with an endless array of legendary and monumental players featured that all proudly once donned the sacred jersey of the mighty Montreal Canadiens.
Nicknamed for his booming slapshot feared throughout the league, Bernie Geoffrion was an exceptional scorer despite playing in the shadows of Rocket Richard and Jean Beliveau. Boom Boom was also noted for his physical play, once breaking the jaw of Ron Murphy with a two-hand slash, while he himself suffered six broken noses and received over 400 stitches throughout his career. Direct from the archives of the Montreal Canadiens and most likely displayed originally at the Montreal Forum and possibly later at the Bell Centre, we have a Hall of Fame honoured member framed photo of the two-time Art Ross winner. At 8” x 9 ½” (exposed), the modern print picture’s Geoffrion in action vs Denis DeJordy and the Chicago Black Hawks during the late-1960s. A gold-coloured name plaque listing his induction year (1972) has been inserted beneath, double-matted and framed to 16” x 16”, with some light wear to the frame to note. An LOA from Classic Auctions will be included.
