Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2017
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/7/2017
A real work of hockey art is this Russian treasure, a bronze hockey player statue from the late-1960s. This magnificent rendition of a player hunched over and wielding his hockey stick down low is a splendid representation of the speed and power of the great winter game. The statue stands about 6 1/2" tall at its highest point on his head. The artist's Russian name is signed and dated "68" on the right rear corner of the 5" x 2 3/4" base (heavily worn), and it's in splendid condition, with just a light amount of wear to the felt on the underside along with a chip to the finish on the base directly beneath the stick blade. We should also note a loose piece of bronze within the sculpture that could be heard when it’s tilted or moved.
