Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction Spring 2025
Fantastic Stanley Cup finals memorabilia is this program and ticket stub from an exciting overtime battle between the Canadiens and Red Wings at Detroit Olympia. The date was Sunday, April 11th, 1954 and Lord Stanley's silverware was in the building since the Wings held a 3-games-to-1 lead when the puck was dropped. After three scoreless periods, Montreal's Ken Mosdell kept his team's Cup hopes alive when he scored unassisted at 5:45 of overtime. The Habs would win 4-1 back in Montreal to force a seventh game, won 2-1 in overtime by Detroit on Tony Leswicks fluke goal that deflected off Doug Harveys glove and past Gerry McNeil. Ah, the good old Fifties!
VG-EX 36-page program has no markings on the lineup pages or elsewhere and includes head shots of all Detroit and most Montreal players, along with results of their 14 regular season tilts. Also present is an all important nice big, unmarked VG ticket stub with light creases. Four other Detroit Red Wings Stanley Cup playoffs tickets are also included; March 29th 1956 semi-finals game No.5 stub (Wings won series that night!), March 28th 1961 semi-finals game No.4 stub, April 7th 1963 semi-finals game No.6 stub (Wings won series that night!) and an April 7th 1964 semi-finals game No.6 stub in which game Norm Ullman scored an hat trick and the series was won in 7 games by the Wings.
